The Brazilian Experience with Renewable Energy
Brazil is a global reference for renewable energy. It has the authority to host a large discussion about the issue. Since the 1970’s, during the petroleum crisis, it began to use ethanol as an alternative automotive fuel. The effort was not restricted to laboratories or research centers, but applied in mass, tested and approved by the population. This leadership is due not only to the use of ethanol, but to the widespread use of hydroelectric sources in the national energy matrix.
